As you might be able to tell from this strip I'm not a fan of the impending 2012 Olympics. The stadium figure doesn't even come close to the whole 9 billion of tax payers money wasted on this single event, but why spend that much building a new stadium when there are so many good ones already available in this country? Rant over!

I love the Olympics because of what they stand for, that and I'm a Greek and Roman scholar, but I agree with the ridiculousness of it all. Actually, I'm from Pittsburgh, where there were two perfectly good stadiums and the tore them down to build three new ones. It happens in schools too, money for sporting events, and yet they can't afford new books. It's all just dumb. Maybe it's the "bread and circuses" idea. Without the bread part and more circuses.

I guess it's never been fair, and unfortunately never will be.

I heard London tried to minimize their expense as much as they can, they got a lot of second-handed equipment straight from the leftovers of the Chinese Olympic. Although i do agree with u, but the Olympics is a traditional thing, it is still necessary to make it grandiose.

Which is fine if the country isn't in the middle of a recession.
